My Happy Place

I have fallen in love with the little city of Draper. On days when I have nothing to do, I somehow wind up there just basking on all it's beauty. Draper has always been on the top of my list when it comes to "Best places to live". I love it's charm, the beautiful parks and trails, the old buildings and homes with so much character, the small town feel. It has everything I need, and some day I will move there and we will grow old together.

I'm exhausted....

We had a very event filled weekend. And I am trying to recover.

Yesterday we celebrated Tate's 1st Birthday. We had all our family over to celebrate last night, it was very very crowded. Everyone in our tiny little apartment, there was barely any room to move. Tate (or i should say I) had a polka dot themed party. I came across this cute blog where the lady used to work for Martha Stewart and has so many great ideas -click here -but somehow our little party, didn't turn out so "cute".

Tate got spoiled rotten, Thank you everyone for coming and for all the great presents!

I ran my very first half marathon along with my friends Megan and Nicki and Nicki's dad. This wasn't just any race. This was The Halloween Half Marathon. Everyone was dressed up in ridiculous costumes running down Provo canyon. IT WAS HILARIOUS and SO FUN, i want to do it every year. The winning costumes were (and i wish i had my camera to take pictures of these people) The Runaway Bride, she wore a full on wedding dress the whole time. The pumpkin head, she had a pumpkin over her head the entire time (it was gutted and had the eyes and mouth cut out so she could see). And the Suppergirl, a man dressed up as a girl super hero, with the boobs the spandex and wig.

And last but not least was Halloween trick or treating! Tate turned on his charm and got us a lot of candy.

Halloween Party

I have not once bought a Halloween costume. They are ridiculously expensive and made of cheap thin material. Instead every single year I raid my parents Halloween boxes. They are 2 1/2 boxes full of old clothes that we would never wear in public again. Most of the clothes fit me when I was between the ages of 6-12. I helped throw a halloween party with all our old highschool buddies.... So I dug up this old Bridesmaid dress that my sister wore to my aunts wedding when she was 14, and I went as a 1980's Prom queen. Mike wore this hidious blue and red plaid jacket (who knows where is came from) and went as a used car salesman. Tate was a Turtle

Mike and Dasha as The librarian and her nerd

The hippy showed up

The witch and her cute octopus (his costume below)

The Genie

John and Kate + 8

We had about 5 people show up in cowbow attire

The black widow and her victim

And our the adorable little boys, the Octopus and turtle. They didn't last very long in their outfits, however. Tate will pick on Carter every time they get together. But Carter is such a good little boy he just puts up with it.

I didn't get everyone's picture but it was great to see everyone again! Thanks Teri for the fun night!

Odd

Last night Tate came down with a strong case of the giggles.

He woke us up from 4:30am-5:30am with a Laugh attack. What he was laughing about, no one will ever know

We just couldn't resist bringing him in bed with us to join in on the laughter.

What an odd little boy.

Fools

Most of the time I'm a pretty easy going person. That is until someone is obnoxiously rude or just plain stupid. Lately I have come across some pretty obnoxious people.
Examples of these fools:
*I was in the parking lot on Friday at the South Towne Expo Center. I just put Tate in the car seat and I was sitting idle in the drivers seat looking at a cook book I just bought when a big buff man walks up to my car and signals for me to open my door to talk to me. Now, I'm not that stupid to just open my door to a complete stranger, let alone someone that is triple my size. I roll down my window a tad and ask what he wants. He proceeds to tell me he needs money for gas or money for a gas can. I have seen these guys in Target and Walmart parking lots before going up to women saying they have ran out of gas and need gas money. One time I even followed one of these guys and saw him climb into a huge truck with all his scamming buddies. This should be illegal, preying on poor innocent women in parking lots. Scarring them half to death!
*Another one of these fools was a nurse at the Doctors office last week. I had to take Tate in to get a EKG for his heart and the nurse came in started making small talk while weighing and measuring him. Then she tells me how cute my baby is and how she thought he was a girl because of his eyelashes .... uhhhh what? Then she goes to listen to his heart and the cold stethoscope made him squirm (of course, he's a baby) And she looks at me and says "Someone is in a bad mood, RRRRRRRRRRRR". yes, she said RRRRRRRRRR. What that heck?
* And the other day I was in our clubhouse gym running. The lady next to me was walking on the treadmill with her 1 year old sitting in the stroller behind her. Why? Why? Why would you do this? It was perfectly good weather outside. Get your kid some fresh air. And I've seen her in there before, just walking. Maybe if she was using other workout equipment I would understand. Or, even if it was bad weather outside, but no. Her kid just sits there, doing nothing just watching her.
If You or I ever run into these types of people again, I hope we are brave enough to ask them, "What the HECK!?"

Mike's birthday and Mine are exactly 2 weeks apart, and we celebrated in style. For my birthday he planned a surprise shindig in the park. Oh how he tried to be sneaky sneaky, but you can't trick me. And for Mike's birthday we got together at his favorite restaurant The Pizza Factory with some friends.
Every year on my birthday I have The best cake ever, Ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. Ummmmmm. And the next week I have to spend working off the 5 extra pounds I've gained with this baby because I've eaten the whole thing. But it's worth it.
And this year for the first time I made a cake for Mike's birthday!!!!! uh, well it was from a box. But I did do it regardless.

My List

20 Things to do before my 25th birthday
I am reading a book right now that inspired me to make a list of things I want to do before I turn the big 2-5, and since I'm turning 24 this week I thought it was fitting. The book is called The Next Thing on my List and I hope not to follow in her footsteps since she dies after accomplishing the first goal, losing 100 lbs.
So here goes
1. Learn how to really swim
2. Keep a plant alive
3. Get on TV
4. Play a soccer game
5. Visit 25 new parks in Utah I've never been to
6. Visit teach every month starting September
7. Run a Marathon
8. Kill a big spider myself
9. Eat one vegetable everyday, even if it's just a baby carrot
10. Volunteer anywhere I can
11. Visit the Oregon Coast
12. Go to the Temple once a month
13. Actually fill Christmas stockings this year
14. Go to a fancy restaurant
15. Try snowboarding one more time
16. Read the book of Mormon
17. Learn how to sew something, anything
18. Eat something new every month
19. Throw my baby the best 1st birthday party
20. Turn off the TV and read more books
Wow, that is hard to think up all those many many things. You can bet by next year you will see a whole new Chelsey you might not even recognize.
